Bevrijdings Festival.
Den Haag, 2024
Bevrijdingsdag is a day of reflection on Germany’s occupation of The Netherlands, and celebrating the veterans who fought to end it. The Bevrijdingsfestival hosts a variety of artists and activites for all age groups. March 4th and 5th are hugely important in Dutch culture, and the holiday transitions from quiet remembrance to passionate celebration.
Bringing in big names like Ray Greene, Poke, Krezip, and of course, a speech from Jan van Zanen, the Mayor of The Hague. Followed by the lighting of a large torch, the flame delivered from where the surrender documents were signed in 1945.
